About Gifts of Travel
Under section 3.216(d) of the San Francisco Campaign and Governmental Conduct Code, form SFEC-3.216(d) must be filed by an elected officer who either:
- accepts a gift of transportation, lodging, or subsistence for any out-of-state travel that is paid for in part by an individual or entity other than the City and County of San Francisco, another governmental body, or a bona-fide educational institution as defined in section 203 of the Revenue and Taxation Code, or that is paid for by the City in whole or in part with funds donated from any entity other than another governmental body or bona fide educational institution as defined in Section 203 of the Revenue and Taxation Code; or
- reimburses the individual or entity for the gift of transportation, lodging or subsistence in order to avoid receiving a gift (this filing should be completed within 30 days of reimbursement)

As of March 2018, Gifts of Travel forms are filed electronically. The data on filed forms is posted to the San Francisco Open Data system.
Filings
This dataset includes the contents of each filing. The dataset also includes a link to a PDF copy of the filing.
Accompanying Persons Sub-table
The Gifts of Travel form includes a sub-table of persons accompanying the elected official on the trip. This table is parsed into a separate dataset. The dataset can be joined with the Gifts of Travel filings dataset above using the DocuSignID to research accompanying persons.
Contributors Sub-table
The Gifts of Travel form includes a sub-table of contributors who contributed more than $500 to the entity funding the trip and whose contributions were used in whole or in part to fund the trip. This table is parsed into a separate dataset. The dataset can be joined with the Gifts of Travel filings dataset using the DocuSign ID above to research contributors.
