At its next regular meeting on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 10:00am, the San Francisco Ethics Commission will consider and possibly act on a set of proposed regulations regarding the City’s behested payment rules.
City officers and designated employees are prohibited from directly or indirectly soliciting behested payments from interested parties. Section 3.630 of the Campaign and Governmental Conduct Code requires the Ethics Commission to adopt regulations implementing the City’s behested payment rules, “including with respect to defining and illustrating “interested party” and when a payment is made “at the behest of” a City officer or designated employee.” The Ethics Commission will consider removing existing regulations that are currently obsolete and adopting new regulations to clarify and implement the City’s behested payment rules, as required by City code.
This 10-day notice is provided under Charter Section 4.104 to encourage public comment on the proposals in advance of the Commission’s next meeting.
The Commission invites all input on the proposed regulations. Written comments can be sent via email to ethics.commission@sfgov.org. Written public comment received by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022, will be included in the Commission’s packet of meeting materials for its December 9 meeting. Opportunity for public comment will also be provided during the Commission’s meeting.
