SAN FRANCISCO ETHICS COMMISSION
NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
May 29, 2012 5:30 P.M.
and AGENDA
Room 400 City Hall
1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco

NOTICE: The regular meeting of the Ethics Commission, normally scheduled for the fourth Monday of the month, is cancelled. Instead, this special meeting is being held.

Note also that the documents submitted for this proceeding are available on the Commission's website. They will also be made available for sharing at the Commission's meeting – the Commission regrets that it has insufficient resources to make hard copies available for all members of the public.

  1. Call to order and roll call.
  2. The Ethics Commission will continue its hearing on charges of official misconduct pending against Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi. Under Charter Section 15.105, when the Mayor suspends an elective officer, "The Ethics Commission shall hold a hearing not less than five days after the filing of written charges. After the hearing, the Ethics Commission shall transmit the full record of the hearing to the Board of Supervisors with a recommendation as to whether the charges should be sustained." Attorneys representing the Mayor and the Sheriff have filed papers with the Ethics Commission relating to identified issues, fact and expert witnesses, and other matters set forth at the Commission's April 23, 2012 meeting. At this meeting, among other things, the Commission will address the issues raised in the briefs, determine whether further legal argument or testimony is required and if so, when and in what form. Both parties will likely discuss factual stipulations and the availability of witnesses as well as objections to witnesses. There will be opportunity for public comment on this item. (Discussion and possible action.)
  3. Adjournment.
