SUMMARY OF ACTIONS TAKEN AT JULY 28, 2014 REGULAR MEETING
At its regular meeting on July 28, 2014, the San Francisco Ethics Commission took the following actions:
- By a vote of 4-0, found in connection with Ethics Complaint No. 02-140228 that John Rahaim, the Director of the Planning Department, committed a non-willful violation of Section 67.21(a) of the Sunshine Ordinance by failing to permit public records to be inspected and examined without unreasonable delay.
- By a vote of 3-1 (Hayon dissented), denied a request by Arts Commissioner Leo Chow for two waivers from Campaign and Governmental Conduct Code section 3.222, which bars members of City boards and commissions from entering into contracts with the City where the contract amount exceeds $10,000.
- By a vote of 4-0, approved regulations implementing and interpreting the City’s Lobbyist Ordinance as well as new requirements for City permit consultants and developers of major City real estate projects.
The Commission’s regular meeting scheduled for Monday, August 25, 2014 has been cancelled. The Commission will hold a special meeting Monday, August 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 416 City Hall. The next regular meeting of the Commission will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 in Room 400 City Hall.

The Ethics Commission, established in November 1993, serves the public, City employees and officials and candidates for public office through education and enforcement of ethics laws. Its duties include: filing and auditing of campaign finance disclosure statements, lobbyist and campaign consultant registration and regulation, administration of the public financing program, whistleblower program, conflict of interest reporting, investigations and enforcement, education and training, advice giving and statistical reporting.
