To appear in the datasets for these charts, committees must (1) contribute to or (2) receive funds from a San Francisco committee which was Primarily Formed for a local election in 2024, or (3) file a Late Reporting Period statement with the SFEC during a 2024 late reporting period.
Campaign committees are subject to various rules around the jurisdiction of their filing requirements. In California a campaign committee may file with the State, one or more localities, and/or some combination thereof. Additionally, committees may exist across several different elections. This page seeks to make the financial statements of committees that are participating in a local election more accessible.
The first set of charts on this page present financial data for local San Francisco filers, while the second set gathers financial data from committees that file with the California Secretary of State. The datasets include financial disclosures starting two years before an election. The State level data comes from an export of the Secretary of State’s database, Cal-Access.
Both sets of charts are organized in a hierarchy of Committee Name > Transaction Name. In the charts for Contributors, the Transaction Name is the name of the contributor giving to the committee. For Payments charts, the Transaction Name is the entity or individual the committee issued a payment to.
This page presents monetary contributions to a committee and payments made by a committee, but other types of transactions are available in the source datasets for committees that file with the San Francisco Ethics Commission and the California Secretary of State.
