What is the purpose of the Candidates’ Training?
Candidates for City elective office and their treasurers must complete a training program conducted or sponsored by the Ethics Commission prior to each election in which the candidate’s name will appear on the ballot. An individual who serves as the treasurer for more than one committee is not required to attend a training if that individual has attended such a training within the previous 12 months. (See San Francisco Campaign & Governmental Conduct Code § 1.107.)
Campaign managers, consultants, volunteers and other representatives are encouraged to attend.
PART I
The first part of this training will focus on campaign finance requirements that apply to all candidates.
PART II
Part II will describe the voluntary expenditure ceiling, which is applicable only in the elections for Members of the Board of Education, Members of the Community College Board, Public Defender and Assessor.
PARTS III & IV
These portions will focus on required forms for candidates for the Board of Supervisors and will provide an overview of the Supervisorial Public Financing Program.
When you R.S.V.P to the Ethics Commission, please provide the names of all the people who will attend, emails, phone numbers, and the office sought by the candidate.
